Women’s underwear is sold in letters (S, M, L), in numbers (5, 6, 7) and in clothing sizes (4–6, 8–10), and the numbers do not match from brand to brand. The one reliable measurement is the hips. This calculator looks up your hip measurement on three published charts, Nike, Fruit of the Loom and Target’s Auden, and tells you the size on each.
How to use the panty size calculator
- Measure your hips around the fullest part of the hips and seat, tape level, keeping a finger of ease.
- Add your waist if you like, as a cross-check.
- Read the three sizes and the clothing sizes they cover.
Panty size formula (chart lookup)
between sizes → the next larger size (Fruit of the Loom)
hips and waist disagree → follow the hips (Nike)
The tables below are the published charts (retrieved 2026-10-15). Fruit of the Loom suggests measuring yourself in your underwear and inserting a forefinger between the tape and your hip. Centimetres are inches multiplied by 2.54.

Fit checks
- Leg openings: no cutting in or gaping.
- Waistband: should stay put without rolling.
- Fabric: cotton has little stretch; seamless fabrics stretch more.
- Wash: expect minimal shrinking in the first wash, so do not buy a size down.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find my panty size?
Measure the fullest part of your hips with the tape level. On the Nike, Fruit of the Loom and Auden charts the hip measurement decides the size. Nike says that if hips and waist point to different sizes, order the size indicated by your hips.
What if I am between sizes?
Fruit of the Loom advises the next larger size. Nike says the smaller size for a tighter fit or the larger for a looser fit. The calculator rounds up to the next chart value.
How do numeric panty sizes map to clothing sizes?
Fruit of the Loom pairs panty sizes with pant sizes: 5/S matches pant size 4–6 and 6/M matches 8–10. Auden’s chart shows the same idea, with S as 4–6 and M as 8–10. The result shows both.
Why do my sizes differ between brands?
Each brand sets its own ranges. Auden’s hip upper limits differ from Nike’s by up to an inch, so use the chart of the brand you are buying from.
Which style needs a bigger size?
Seamless and high-waisted styles stretch more; thongs and cheeky cuts are cut closer. See the Shapewear Size Calculator for compression styles, and Men’s Underwear / Boxer Size Calculator for men’s sizes.
